
ESA Satellite missions launched

Congratulations to members Open Cosmos and CGI on the successful launch of the European Space Agency mission, Phisat-2 last week. It has four AI apps on board with two more to be uploaded in orbit. Phisat-2 will improve Earth Observation images before they are sent back, such as automatically removing any that are obscured by clouds. Open Cosmos developed the Phisat-2 nanosatellite. CGI developed the Sat2Map App. Thales developed the PhiFireApp. Read more. ESA/EUMETSAT’s Arctic Weather Satellite (AWS) was also on board and it will improve short-term weather forecasting over the remote region. Read more here.
