China’s CAS Space launches first Latin American payloads on Kinetica-1 rocket

A white Kinetica-1 rocket operated by Chinese launch company CAS Space ascends into a clear blue sky, leaving behind a bright flame and thick plume of brownish exhaust. The rocket has just lifted off from a desert launch pad at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. In the foreground are low, rectangular buildings with blue roofs, a large white hangar, and tall metal towers used for communications. The barren desert landscape stretches flat into the distance under an open sky.

CAS Space delivered seven satellites to orbit Tuesday, including a pair of femtosats marking the company’s first launch of payloads for a Latin American client.
